Update - New Subaru Solterra EV Reservation System And Availability Details
The all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra EV will be available for customers in the U.S. in mid-2022, but when can you buy the new EV compact SUV? The all-electric Solterra will be available at all Subaru retailers across the U.S, and there is information regarding an online reservation system for customers.
How do I order a Solterra?
Reports from several Subaru retailers say now that Subaru of America will soon open an online reservation system for customers to order the 2023 Solterra. Customers will be required to put down a $250 refundable deposit to place a reservation for the all-new Solterra compact SUV.
Planet Subaru reports the online reservation system was initially scheduled to go live this week on January 18, 2022, but says, "It has been delayed indefinitely." There is no explanation for why it's been delayed or when it will be live for reservations.
Subaru Report reached out to Subaru of America, and Todd Hill, SOA's Product Public Relations Manager, told us, "For now, we are advising those interested in the Solterra to visit subaru.com/solterra-ev for information and encourage them to sign up for updates to receive the latest information when it becomes available."
Other new information from Planet Subaru says Subaru Corporation will only produce around 6,600 Solterra all-electric SUVs for the U.S. market. That's eleven Solterra models for each of Subaru's 630 retailers nationwide. Subaru Corporation is expected to produce 6,600 models in 2022.
With the limited number of models produced for Subaru of America's customers, demand will quickly outstrip supply for the automaker's first-ever all-electric SUV.
Planet Subaru says, "The Solterra is going to be a very hot ticket. There are many people eager for the Solterra, with frothy enthusiasm among Subaru faithful who have been waiting for a battery electric vehicle."
Should customers wait until next year to buy a new Solterra?
The report says Subaru is expected to increase the new all-electric SUV production for the 2024 model year Solterra. "We expect supplies of the 2024 model to increase," the report says.
What is the price of the Subaru Solterra?
The 2023 Subaru Solterra will come in three trim levels for U.S. customers. Subaru has not released pricing information, but the new EV should be priced around $40,000 for the base trim and could approach $50,000 for the fully-loaded Touring trim level.
