I have owned a Cross hybrid for 16 months, and like it as well today as I did driving home with it the first time. It is well engineered with a focus on dependability & efficiency. That's not to say that you can't tromp on the gas pedal and sling the car around turns. Consumer Reports gave it excellent ratings for its ability to make accident avoidance maneuvers, something I had to do not long after I bought it. An idiot paying absolutely no attention to traffic made a bizarre lane change at 70MPH on a busy highway. I made one of those split-second avoidance maneuvers. The Cross gave me total confidence that it could -- and did -- get out of that situation safely. I live in a snow area and have found the Cross to be sure-footed in poor driving conditions.

The Cross is also a remarkably comfortable road car for long trips.

Maintain this thing properly and you will love it more & more every year.
