Will be interesting to see how much energy is required to irradiate water and debris in order to vaporize it and how much reflected energy ends up going into the atmosphere (without some special glass being used for windshields that doesn't reflect light). Given the need for non-visible laser light to be used, to not interfere with driving, the amount of laser energy hitting the eyes of unaware pilots will also be unknown until airplanes get laser detectors or "mysterious" retina burns start showing up in hospitals.
