Phone navigation is fine if you never go anywhere. Our cabin is in an area without cell service. I've had cars with built in navigation since the mid-90's. I've only had issues with weird routes when the navigation defaults were messed up. If people can't be bothered learning their GPS system, whether it's hiking or car, good luck. And if you rely on a phone, don't go anywhere.
