I’m 74 years old,and was taught this by a master mechanic at least 50 years ago.
Yes, absolutely! Technology hasn’t improved enough to eliminate this problem.
I also drain and flush my transmission and differential at 60k miles. Have never experienced any problems. Have owned cars across the spectrum, Fords, Cadillacs, Volvos ( several),Toyota, Lexus (currently). A few of which I put at least 200k miles on. So take it for whatever you think it’s worth. Good advice.
