Big Winners and Losers from Toyota June Sales Report (Hint: 2022 RAV4 Hybrid Made the List)

See what Toyota models won and which ones lost bigtime.

June of 2022 was a successful sales month for Toyota, all things considered. Toyota recently released both its June 2022 and first-half 2022 sales results.

I recently reported on the first-half electrified vehicle numbers, which saw RAV4 Hybrid place first and Sienna hybrid place second in overall electrified sales.

June sales results for Toyota electrified vehicles, though, may look a little bit mixed when looking for successes and losses.

2022 RAV4 Hybrid a Winner

The clear winner in the Toyota world for June is 2022 RAV4 Hybrid. Sales increased from 7,054 (June 2021) to 13,913 (June 2022), a spike of 97.2% on a volume basis.

The demand for RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid has never been higher. RAV4 Hybrid even enjoyed a record first half for 2022 as well.

No surprise here – 40mpg combined and 219 net hybrid horsepower. With fuel prices the way they are, who wouldn’t want to average 40mpg in their SUV?

2022 Sienna Hybrid Decreased

Unfortunately, not all Toyota hybrid models fared as well in June.

The 2022 Sienna, for example, dropped in sales by 44.6% compared to a year ago. Customers bought 4,805 Sienna minivans in June 2022 versus 8,674 in June 2021.

There is typically a silver lining everywhere if you look for it and if you know where to look. My feeling about Toyota Sienna is that buyer demand is incredibly strong. If Toyota was able to produce more (meaning if there was no worldwide vehicle shortage), people would purchase every last one that was built.

This 2022 Toyota Sienna averages either 35mpg (yes, it is available in all-wheel drive) or 36mpg. It is the ideal family road trip vehicle for most families.

Camry Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid

I have included a chart listing Toyota electrified vehicle sales for both June 2022 and first-half 2022. I hope you find it interesting.
Toyota Hybrid Sales June 2022

Again, more than likely due to the automotive vehicle shortage, other models like Camry Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid saw decreased sales figures last month.

Camry Hybrid sales went down from 4,227 (June of 2021) to 3,650 (June of 2022). This was a drop of 13.7% in volume.

Another popular SUV, 2022 Highlander Hybrid, sold 2,915 units in June of 2022. This was down 40.2% from 4,877 units in June of 2021.

Time for Your Toyota RAV4 Comments

The clear winner and Toyota champion is Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Well, and Toyota RAV4 gasoline-only and RAV4 Prime. This is the best-selling SUV in the country after all.

Amazing.

What Toyota electrified vehicle is your favorite? How do you fare with your fuel economy these days?

Also, are climbing gas prices impacting your decision to buy a hybrid or electric car?

Thanks for watching everyone. See you next story.
