Next-Gen 2024 Toyota 4Runner Coming and Enthusiasts Offer Redesign Suggestions

With a new 2024 Toyota 4Runner body style on the way, we learn what is coming and what fans want.

Many people feel a new Toyota 4Runner is on the way. Sooner than later, too.

Little to no information has been released yet about next generation 4Runner, but rumors and speculation can be felt swirling around Toyota watercoolers across the country.

The prevailing thought is that we will see a complete redesign for 2024 Toyota 4Runner. Especially since little changed for 2023 4Runner (except for super-cool 40th Anniversary Edition, Blind Spot Monitor standard across the board, and Solar Octane TRD Pro).

Next-Gen Toyota 4Runner Release Date

We could still see a next-gen 2025 Toyota 4Runner, but my bet is still riding on 2024. If this is the case, it would make its debut sometime 2023 calendar year.

But what would a new body design 4Runner look like? Potentially it could look similar to this rendering from “Automotive Press” YouTube channel (subscribe to this cool channel here). This line of thought makes sense, as it follows strong styling cues from Tundra and Sequoia.

Now how about new features, powertrain, styling, and other factors? Time to ask 4Runner fans, owners, and enthusiasts.

I asked viewers of my “ToyotaJeff Reviews” YouTube channel for their thoughts on what a new 4Runner should look like, feel like, and act like.

“Horizontal rear gate. Turbo 4-cylinder. Hard and soft top options….Bronco has it why can’t 4Runner?????” Commented Joey.

Owen requests “better engine and transmission, improved mpg, state of the art infotainment system, heated steering wheel”.

Dave dropped these ideas. “Firmer suspension, better stereo and interior technology. And a turbo 4-cylinder.”

“Just give us an option for 4Runner manual transmission.” Pleaded Julie.

Steve commented. “All 4Runner TRD Pro models should have hybrid option like Tundra and Sequoia.”

Navid suggested. “Twin turbo and higher tow ratings, improved multimedia system with power.”

“Removeable back, 6-speed manual.” Offered Wes.

Tony said. “Just please make it reliable. And much better fuel economy and power.”

“Can the next 4Runner have more cabin space, better third row with air to the back, power back window, tons of cup holders and USB’s?” Asked Ken.

My 4Runner Suggestions and Your Comments

As for me, I agree with many of these Toyota 4Runner fans in that I just want to see modernization. Across the board. While still maintaining the 4Runner legacy and integrity and reliability we have all come to know and love these past 40 years.

No need for me to suggest anything other than a turbocharged engine since Tundra and Sequoia are already there. It would be silly not to think there will be a 4Runner Hybrid option or a 4Runner Hybrid-only trim level or two. Probably on 4Runner TRD Pro.

Give me the ability to remove a soft top or hard top. Toyota Audio Multimedia is a given since it is already on many popular Toyota models for the 2023 model year.

Oh, and I want a 4Runner power vertical rear window, but many of you already know that from me.

And one last thing Toyota – please grant my wish and give me a 2024 4Runner TRD Pro in Black Cherry color. I do not ask for much. Just one little color. Easy.

What are your suggestions for next-gen 2024 4Runner?

Thanks for reading everyone. See you next story.
