The Tesla Plaid is a great example of several of the advantages of EVs. With gas powered vehicles there was always a trade of between economy, performance, comfort, cost, and reliability. Economy cars were cheap to buy and operate, and reasonably reliable. But once you modified them to be quick, both economy and reliability suffered. You could buy a very fast car, but it cost a fortune and was also not economical to run or repair. The Tesla Plaid is quicker than most every other car on the planet, but it has the operating cost of a Honda Civic, plus it can haul 5 people, has good storage, and is quiet and smooth for daily driving. It is not cheap unless you compare it to performance cars that come close it it's performance. And those expensive and rare supercars are horribly impractical for any kind of daily driving.
