Also the moronic variable valve timing, Ford refers to it as timing/cam phasers. Both have an oil pressure solenoid that diverts oil to the twin cam timing gears, they have a spring loaded plate that the oil pressure forces in and allows the timing tear to advance the cam timing when accelerating. If that doo dad (has a roll pin through plate and gear) fails or breaks or the oil solenoid fails, you destroy the engine. All vvt engines do this (atkinson method). Like Ford you start hearing a tapping noise like a lifter tick or a noise like wooo wooo wooo before they break. $1200 labor just to replace one side. I wish auto mfg would push back on the govt horsesht causing all this ignorant “engineering”. Old school advanced spark timing with a $3 weight and spring in the distributors, hot rodders put in custom weights and weaker springs to make it advance faster, more power, better mileage..for $7.
