I live in PA. I wanted to purchase a Subaru hybrid. The local Subaru dealership said that they weren't allowed to sell hybrids and aren't allowed to maintain hybrid Subaru. I contacted Subaru corporate marketing and they confirmed this to be true. Apparently corporate policy is to only sell hybrids in certain states, so that they have enough hybrids to sell in the states that set % of total sales requirements for hybrids. The way Subaru prevents someone like myself from buying in a state where they do sell hybrids is to deny service training and hybrid parts sales in certain states. That means I can go buy a hybrid Subaru wherever I want, but won't be able to get it maintained by a Subaru dealer in the state where I reside. So will Subaru ever restart sales and service of all hybrid models in states such as Pennsylvania?
