As much as I wish for a new gen STi ICE version, this is the future, and I'm happy surprised that Subaru is moving this direction. As the prior owner of 2 STi's and 3 WRX's, I'm a fan. But I'm also a realist and an engineer. Gas is expensive. ICE maintenance is expensive and never ending. I've done the work on all my cars for 30 years. There is so much less to go wrong with an EV. I'm honestly tired of my cars eventually breaking and being worthless. Modern EV batteries will last 300-500,000 miles before the owner sees reduced performance. That FAR outlasts any ICE cars I could want to buy. And performance. Wow. ICE just cannot compete. Almost any dual motor variant of any EV will outperform the WRX and last STi. By far. My next car is planning to be the Volvo EX30 Cross Country. It's more or less the EV version of the Crosstrek Wilderness. And guess what? 422 horsepower. There's just not much argument left. Imagine a crosstrek with 422hp lol. Well, that's my plan. Sorry Subaru. That is unless if the STi comes out soon enough and truly impresses and competes with the likes of the Model 3, the EV6, Mach-E, Polestars, etc.
