Remember that movie I, Robot where the robots start making more robots but they are controlled by a malevolent AI. The robots themselves are relatively dumb so need external control for plot reasons. Now in the movie the AI for plot reasons runs on specialized hardware in one data center and is easy for the protagonists to destroy.
Now imagine a different ending where all the bots are smart and powered by on-board intelligence (not necessarily just transformers - maybe a combination of various techniques including liquid neural nets, spiking nets, transformers, etc). Also imagine that any large non-embodied AIs will run many many copies of themselves in many different data centers around the world. Now imagine that the design of the robots is done by fully autonomous AIs, not humans, as they are just better and faster than we are.
Best hope the robots don't want to fight because if they do we will be in trouble.
