Not sure why you thought a new Ascent was coming out this year when the Forester was getting a new gen. Subaru rarely does two new vehicles in a year, the most obvious exception being the Forester and Ascent in 2018.

The Ascent certainly needs a power boost and I think they should accomplish that by giving the current engine a hybrid and running on the Miller cycle.
