Not really, it competes agains the miata which is RWD too. Adding AWD will increase weight of the vehicle making it harder to brake and turn. A BRZ weights like 2800lbs and a WRX weights like 3600lbs. That is a huge difference. For performance events, most people prefer light RWD cars. I have personally been looking to purchase a BRZ because it's RWD, super light and no has no turbo. Most people think turbo is a plus but for things like autocross it kicks in late and throws you off.
