The Subarus aren't quite as…
The Subarus aren't quite as offroad-capable as many 4WDs. They lack 4Low gearing, STURDY skidplates, and considerable articulation.
As AWD vehicles, they are extremely capable offroad, and aftermarket support has developed better for them than just about any other AWD vehicles, but they're still not hardcore offroaders. Some indicators of this are their vulnerable plastic bumpers, their lack of frame-mounted recovery points, and their reliance on a center differential and TCS that can easily overheat during hardcore use.
I'm actually more surprised that the Toyota 4Runner didn't make the list.
