You forgot the most important thing:

Use a rust inhibitor on your car's chassis, such as a Fluid Film. Here in the salt belt, the trucks dump tons of cancerous brine solution and salt in order to keep the ice melted on the back roads and highways, interstates, etc. It is horrible on cars and trucks as it is corrosive.
