We're in almost exactly the situation of the person in your article. We have a 2015 Subaru Forester with 100k miles that we bought new. It's had a couple of problems, and we have thought about replacing it. We also thought about adding an electric vehicle. But electric vehicles are far too expensive. And almost all new vehicles have done away with buttons and substituted touch screens, which for me is a major safety concern. It's also getting a harder, surprisingly, find a car that doesn't have any leather in it. Even most new foresters have a leather wrapped steering wheel. So for the moment we're sticking with the old car and just hoping that nothing major breaks.
