I have a 2015 Forester with 235k miles. Never had transmission problems. I did have some cv axle problems and probably spent $2500 over the past 9 years on that issue.

Transmission problems are frequently the result of abusive driving or pulling heavy loads. When you buy a used car you run the risk that the vehicle was not well cared for.
