I actually own a 2024 Outback Wilderness and a 2024 CRV Sport Hybrid FWD. They are both great cars and I enjoy them both. The CRV obviously gets better mileage, the Wilderness is geared lower and gets even worse EPA numbers than the XT versions of the Outback. But it also has higher ground clearance and all-terrain tires stock.

I would say you can't go wrong with either one. Except.... the 2024 CRV has already had 2 major safety recalls, one of which could result in a fire and there are no replacement parts available to fix it yet. This has also resulted in a stop-sale order on the CRV. So far my Subaru has had no recalls - so there is that.

So that tips the scale way in favor of the Subaru at this point. Honda's quality has slipped a lot recently.
