Depends on the make and model. Most residential heat pumps sold in the UK are rated for -15 Centigrade which is close to zero in Fahrenheit. Some cold weather models are rated for -25 Centigrade. These are more commonly used in Scandinavia. I do realise that Alberta gets colder than this, so would have thought any electric vehicle sold there would have had a resistive heating system as backup for use when temperatures drop below the temperature limits where the heat pump
can effectively work.
