Tape doesn't ruin the paint. The people trying to remove the tape ruin the paint.

To remove tape and tape residue, you have two options:

1st option is to use denatured alcohol. Lift one edge of the tape and using a syringe-type device, squirter small amounts under the tape and it will lift off easily and cleanly.

2nd option is to spray WD-40 onto the tape residue and wipe with a microfiber cloth. This will soften any residue but will probably leave very light scratches that will need to be polished out.

Either way, no repainting involved.
