Not a farce at all, and in most scenarios you're incorrect (unless by "alternative fuel sources" you mean pedal power, in which case I agree with you).

The only time an EV is "nothing environmentally friendly" is in the relatively rare case that the electricity which powers it is derived from the worst offending fuel sources, such as non-modern coal generators. Even in that case, the EV has an opportunity to get cleaner over time as the grid improves, whereas a gas car just gets dirtier over time as its power plant wears out. Plus, even a "dirty" electricity source is still cleaner than a million tiny power plants driving around.

But there are many, MANY people who's evs are powered by clean electricity: hydro, nuclear, wind, and solar.

Is it *perfectly clean*? No, of course not. And there may be a day in the future when a better alternative comes around. Hydrogen, for example, may have its day - although I really don't think so since the infrastructure is an enormous problem (electricity already has massive grids in place).

Again, I don't know what "alternative fuel sources" you're referring to, but right now... the choice is EV vs. gross gas, and that is a clear, clean choice to make. Nothing farce about it.
