I agree; they are a structural element now, but they just haven't gone as far as this group is exploring. They can be pretty expensive when damaged too; when a tow truck driver damaged the one in my 2019 I-Pace HSE, the cost to replace it was $120K, or twice what the car was worth totaling the car. The sad thing for me was that the battery was on recall, which meant it should have been replaceable under the recall (though Jaguar is currently buying the cars back and not fixing them).
