This is normal due to the stop sale of all newer vehicles due to the recent recall for the high pressure fuel pump. Any vehicle under 500 miles or roughly under 8hrs run time, had to be idled for nearly 8 hrs parked with no driving(8hrs x average 65mph). This allowed a break in period to perform the inspection of fuel leak on the high pressure fuel pump. This is why fuel mileage would average out lower until the trip meter was reset.
