Wait until Tesla's are given the green light to use their camera based self-drive mode.

Tesla has had 56 fatalities in accidents with 44 of them is "hands free" and 2 in full self driving modes.

In Arizona a software glitch caused a autonomous Tesla to rundown and kill a woman walking a bike across the street.

The vehicle saw her but a software input error caused the vehicle to ignore or dismiss her.

The software determined that is was a bike and not a motorcycle. It then not only dismissed the bike as a motorcycle but actually decided to ignore it completely as an obstacle. The bike was between the Tesla and woman so it basically screened her, making the woman invisible as far as the Tesla was concerned.

She died because of a input error.

"Oops" isn't acceptable, "we will do better" isn't acceptable and beta testing by trial & error isn't acceptable.

LIDAR is a key factor in autonomous vehicle safety which Tesla refuses to adopt.

How much of a difference is there with LIDAR being used?

The WAYMO cabs have in Arizona have noone behind the wheel, they have logged in millions of miles without a single accident caused by the autonomous driver. The two accidents they have had were caused by drivers hitting the WAYMO.
