That part about the engine "kicking in" to help drive the car at higher speed is incorrect. While in *range extended mode* when the engine is *already running,* some of the torque goes to the wheels at higher speeds, simply because it's there and it adds to the efficiency of the car.

When the battery has energy in it, all driving functions up to maximum speed are 100% electric.
