Yes - I sometimes jokingly refer to my electric bicycle as a human-electric-hybrid ..

However, in the case of the Volt, the industry already had phrases that adequately described the characteristics of that car. PHEV (Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and Series Hybrid.

It's GM that went and invented new terminology.

The industry already had adequate terminology.
