Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction Gets 40 Hours on Speed TV

The 40th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction will get 40 hours of coverage by Speed TV to commemorate its 40th anniversary over the weeklong auction from Jan. 17 to Jan. 23 that includes classics, hot rods, loads of Corvettes, Detroit heavy metal and custom creations among others.

Barrett-Jackson will continue a popular feature introduced at the company’s 2010 Las Vegas auction by selling eight “timed lot” vehicles at peak hours of Speed’s auction coverage. The complete Speed TV schedule is available at the cable channel’s website.

Rock legend and television star Bret Michaels has consigned his personal 1969 Camaro to be sold as Lot #1288.1 during primetime auction hours on Saturday, January 22, and will be on hand to accompany the vehicle as it makes its way across the auction block, according to Barrett-Jackson.

Among the highlights of the auction are:

  • A 1941 Packard 110 Woody Wagon (Lot #1261). It went through a complete restoration in 2001 and is now in prime condition.
  • The highly recognizable “Silver Dollar” pickup that scorched the California drag scene in the late 1960’s was owned, built and driven by Mike Bamber of Escondido, Calif. This 1941 Willys Americar Silver Dollar drag pickup (Lot #1260.4) sports a 340cid engine built from a Chevrolet 283cid block.
  • A 1961 Chevrolet Impala custom two-door hardtop (Lot #12580) is a prime example of a custom creation. The internationally famous “Cheemer” (Chevy + Beemer) is a meticulously engineered melding of classic American styling and big-time German power. Beneath the sleek sheet metal lies a BMW V12, teamed with a BMW automatic transmission. It will be auctioned off on Speed TV at 7 p.m. MST on Jan. 22.
  • Lot #1256 is a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with only 19,542 original miles. The vehicle comes documented right down to the bill of sale with the mileage affidavit from the original owner to the second owner. Other documents include, but are not limited to, the original Protect-O-Plate with the warranty card signed by the original salesman, the original owner’s manual and sales brochures, original service records documenting the mileage through the years and the original copies of the Arizona registration documenting ownership.

“Our 40th annual automotive lifestyle event in Scottsdale will be the epicenter of the car collecting hobby in January,” noted Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We’ve been planning this celebration for the past year and look forward to the exciting group of vehicles that will cross the auction block. Our bidders will be pleased with the outstanding assortment of vehicles, from classics to Hot Rods and exotics.”
