General Motors

General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) is a linchpin of the U.S. automotive industry, selling millions of vehicles every year - 8.3 million in 2018, to be precise – and employing more than 170,000 workers. More familiarly known as GM, the auto company counts iconic brands Buick and Cadillac under its corporate umbrella, as well the more utilitarian GMC brand and the budget-conscious Chevrolet badge.

Formed in 1908 in Flint, Michigan, General Motors has a long history with the Great Lakes State. Alongside the Ford Motor Company, GM’s presence in the region and its creation of popular cars under various brands are some of the main reasons that Detroit is so widely known as Motor City. GM is a Fortune 500 company and frequently appears in the top 25 of that list as one of the largest U.S. corporations by revenue.

General Motors has offered up the first glimpse of the interior of the upcoming 2015 Cadillac Escalade and while we can only see a small portion of the front seats and a angled shot of the dash – this one image shows that the next generation Escalade will offer new levels of luxury with a design similar to that found in the rest of the premium vehicle lineup.

There have long been rumors that the new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray would soon be getting an 8-speed automatic to replace the current 6-speed gearbox but a new GM Trademark filing hints that perhaps the new Vette will be getting a dual clutch automatic in the near future – adding one more piece of supercar technology to the most powerful Corvette ever.

The very, very slow tease of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade continues today with five new videos showing the high level of detail that goes into the new super luxury sport utility vehicle – although we don’t get a real look at any aspects of the next generation Escalade that we didn’t see in the first teaser images.

Rumors have surfaced that General Motors is working on a new higher performance of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that will be powered by a smaller displacement twin turbocharged V8 and because it will follow the basic engineering direction of the C6 Z06 but with a new smaller engine – this new super Corvette could be called the Z07.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded its investigation of the 2005-2007 Chevrolet Corvette to an engineering analysis after the number of complaints has increased dramatically since the preliminary investigation was launched back in May – a move that could lead to a recall of over 100,000 Corvettes.
