Since reporting that production of the Dodge Viper ended back in October, I have received a tremendous number of messages from readers who are disappointed about their inability to custom order a Mopar supercar, but it looks like FCA will reopen the Viper order banks by the end of the year – almost serving as a Christmas present for financial comfortable gearheads.

After a listing on Ford.com for a 2017 Mustang Shelby GT500 came and went, many people are expecting to see a new, high powered pony car from the Motor Company in the very near future – and if there really is a new GT500 coming for 2017, it will almost certainly be unveiling at the upcoming 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

FCA recently announced that 2017 would bring about the new Dodge Challenger GT with standard all-wheel drive – marking the first time that an American “muscle coupe” has been offered with something other than rear wheel drive – and this new Challenger trimline is featured in the new Dodge commercial while frolicking in the Alaskan snow.

Ford Motor Company hasn’t officially acknowledged the rumors of the upcoming Mustang Shelby GT500, but a listing on Google from Ford.com and a Shelby GT500 extension on the Ford website suggests that a new high performance Mustang is on its way for 2017 – presumably storming onto the scene to battle the Dodge Hellcat cars.

The first trailer for the upcoming 8th installation of the famed “Fast and the Furious” movie series dropped this weekend and included in this 3-minute clip is a good look at a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with a widebody kit – which has in turn stoked up the rumors of a widebody Challenger coming from Dodge.
