What started out with an odd looking compact sedan, has evolved into a story of success like no other. Toyota Prius first became popular in Japan back in 1997 before the launch in the U.S. in 2000. Prius quickly became a crowd favorite especially after the launch of the second generation in 2004. Now Prius is selling well all over the world because the word is out about, reliability, fuel economy, and class leading technology that sets them apart as a leader in industry.

The Prius Lineup includes three top sellers, the Prius C, Prius V, and the beautiful Prius Prime vehicles. The new Prius AWD e is the newest model which offers an all wheel drive system for the first time. All models include a Toyota original THS or Toyota Hybrid System that has revolutionized the hybrid and electric vehicle market we see today.

The Toyota Prius is more than a car. I believe that when it was engineered, the Japanese army gave it some DNA from a tank. Even though this tank-esque car is unbelievably reliable, it still has areas that can prove to be pesky as the miles climb up and the maintenance gets avoided. The 2004-2009 2nd Generation Toyota Prius can be known to consume engine oil. Some owners (like me) have reported anywhere from 1/2 quart or more per 1000 miles of oil use. There are a couple of reasons this can happen and one that I was not aware of till recently. The repair to do this particular one is about $12 and has been a cure for at least one of the oil consumption issues known to date.

Arguably, Toyota Prius is one of the most hated cars on the internet and also around on the roads we drive on.
