John Force Racing is preparing a 4th Chevrolet Camaro funny car for competition later this year, with Force’s daughter Brittany making the jump from Top Fuel to Funny Car in order to complete the 4-car Camaro team.

The current John Force Racing team consists of a trio of Chevrolet Camaro funny cars driven by John Force, his youngest daughter Courtney and Robert Hight as well as a Top Fuel car driven by one of John’s other daughters – Brittany Force. Brittany has put together a solid two year run in the Top Fuel class, claiming a handful of class wins along the way, but it looks as though Brittany will join her father and sister in the Funny Car ranks later this year.

It seems likely that Brittany Force will continue to run her Top Fuel car, but with the amount of effort going into building a Chevrolet Camaro funny car for Brittany, it definitely looks as though she will be the 4th JFR funny car driver later this year.

Another Camaro Funny Car
The big rivalry in the current NHRA Funny Car class is between the Dodge Charger drivers from Don Schumacher Racing and the Chevrolet Camaro drivers from John Force Racing. DSR has four drivers (Matt Hagan, Ron Capps, Jack Beckman, Tommy Johnson Jr) who have racked up 11 wins this season during the first 12 events while John Force won the only event that Team Schumacher did not win.

In adding Brittany Force to the JFR Funny Car lineup, the team has a chance of fielding 4 Camaro funny cars in each of the remaining events – effectively improving their chances of winning. Of course, just having another horse in the race won’t guarantee that Team Force can break the incredible momentum of the Charger funny cars, but adding Brittany is more than just another car in the field.

Brittany Force is the smallest and lightest driver in the John Force Racing stable, which is why the team is putting so much effort into developing a Chevrolet Camaro funny car specifically for her. She obviously knows how to get down the drag strip in a 10,000+ horsepower machine, so her lightweight might give her an advantage in the Funny Car ranks. Keep in mind that Courtney Force and Robert Hight have often been among the quickest drivers in the field, so a small Brittany might give JFR one more quick car on the top of the qualifying ladder.

Reports indicate that Brittany Force had her seat fitting for the Camaro funny car this past week, but her arrival in the Funny Car class isn’t likely to come until later this year. When that happens, you can be sure to read about how she does here on TorqueNews, along with all of your NHRA Funny Car coverage.

As this piece goes live, the teams are hitting the track for qualifying at the Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals presented by K&N Filters at Route 66 Raceway in Juliet, Illinois and we will have full coverage of the Funny Car class next week.
