After debuting his Hoonicorn V2 Ford Mustang last week, Ken Block has offered up the first footage of the new twin turbocharged monster in action – roasting the tires as Block races up the curvy road of the Pikes Peak hill climb.
When Ken Block first introduced his Hoonicorn 1965 Ford Mustang with a NASCAR V8 and all-wheel drive, it was easily his most extreme tire-slayer to date, but even when you have the most powerful all-wheel drive classic Mustang ever – there comes a time when you need more power. In this case, Ken Block “needed” more power in his Hoonicorn Mustang for his next project, which we know now takes place on the roads of the Pikes Peak hill climb.
This new project is appropriately called Climbkhana, playing off of the Pikes Peak hill climb name and his legendary Gymkhana skills and Ken Block and his 1,400hp twin turbo Mustang hoon around the famous road course.
Unfortunately, the first video showing Block and the 1,400hp version of the Hoonicorn Ford Mustang is only 42 seconds long, as it simply previews the full video. Worse yet, we have to wait until next summer for the full length video.
Next summer seems so far away right now, but I am sure that the video will be well worth the wait. In the meantime, we have the video below to wet our collective whistles, showing just a little of what Block and his twin turbo, all-wheel drive Mustang have to store for us next summer.
Climbkhana Teaser
The Climbkhana teaser video is exactly what you might expect, with about 30 seconds of solid footage showing Block and his Mustang tearing up the Pikes Peak hill climb course. As you might expect, all four tires spend more time smoking than gripping – slowing to do donuts around an occasional barrel along the way.
In addition to the shots of Block piloting the monster Mustang, the sound track of this short video is music to the ears of every gearhead. The roar of the Roush NASCAR V8 with the twin turbo system dumping the exhaust up through the hood is incredible, especially with the accompaniment of the turbochargers whistling away.
When the full version of Climbkhana arrives – or when Ken Block offers up more teasers – you can be sure to find them here on TorqueNEws.com, but in the meantime, enjoy the first teaser showing the Hoonicorn Mustang V2.
