If you have a Toyota Camry, 4Runner, Corolla, Avalon, Lexus GX, or Scion IQ or XB, with white or blizzard pearl paint that is peeling - here is the extended warranty info.

Toyota has announced a new customer support plan for vehicles with peeling white and blizzard pearl paint. The paint can degrade very rapidly. Some vehicles see the paint begin to come off in as little as one year. The problem affects nearly 2 million vehicles. Models included in the program include the Toyota Camry, 4Runner, Corolla, Avalon, Lexus GX, or Scion IQ or XB. The program will support you whether you are the original owner or purchased the vehicle used.

The program covers certain vehicles with Toyota's Blizzard Pearl (070) or Super White (040) paint colors.

Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.

Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.

Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

My paint is peeling on my toyota rav 4 and I had this problem once before and now its doin it on the side last time it was the whole roof it's never been through car wash so I know that's not why

I have a 2013 RAV4 same problem it’s coming off in sheets it’s like the paint doesn’t adhere to the epoxy based primer and I’m sure Toyota won’t cover anything. It’s typical of these large corporations looking at us like we are just noise and a nuisance.

2016 Toyota Rav 4 Superwhite. Starting to peel around the gas tank. My last Toyota was a 1998 white Toyota 4 Runner. I kept it for 18 years and then handed it to my granddaughter for her first car and never had an issue with the paint in its 20 years.

I have a RAV4 2013. I walked outside today, and I had huge chunks of paint peeling off of my white RAV4 . I drove it yesterday, nothing was happening. I had paint issues with every GM car we owned, that's why we bought a Toyota this time. I feel like the universe has played a very demented joke on me. I'm contacting the dealership tomorrow. I believe a class action suit is growing momentum.

I have the saber problem with my 2008 Toyota Highlander 4wd limited edition and Blizzard pearl paint peeling off horribly. It’s disgusting and embarrassing to be on the road driving a rip off the line and expensive car that has those issues as the rest of the other cars reported here. It’s ashamed that Toyota don’t want to own the problem and told me my car issue is not covered under any recall. That’s not a good business.

They will only repaint the area that is peeling and unless you take it to a high end professional they will try to simply blend it which leads to it peeling down the road.

I was told the same thing when they examined my Corolla and was told originally that they would only be repainting the hood. they finally scheduled the appointment to do the job many, many months and many phone calls later, but in all fairness to the dealer this was all occurring during COVID lockdown. When I brought the car into them and left it for the repainting, they called back the next day and said they had decided to repaint the entire car "except for the plastic parts".

Not according to the first paragraph of the article, which says:

“The program will support you whether you are the original owner or purchased the vehicle used.”

The white paint is falling off our 2016 Toyota Rav 4.
I have never seen this on any car I have ever owned before. I have an appointment with the dealership tomorrow.

I have this issue on my 2012 Highlander. Blizzard Pearl paint. Just noticed yesterday that the roof is in bad shape. Paint is cracked and pealing. Clear coat is also coming off on much of the roof. Seems very odd that Highlander is not listed as a covered model. Bad paint is bad paint no matter what vehicle it was applied to. Come on Toyota, back your products.

I had a 2004 Tundra an 2011 Camry Super White. Didn't know what was giong on with the Tundra, but when the Carmy statrted doing it, I started researhing it. Thanks to the EPA, Toyota/Honda and others mix in the clear coat with the paint on solid color paints. If it the car is metallic or pearl (multi-stage process) then clear coat is the last stage in the paint process. I am getting ready to go Toyota today because I have a Blizzard Pearl 2015 Venza that the paint just starting peeling off suddenly yesterday. The Blizzard Pearl and Super White can both have this problem and the repairs are covered for the life of the vehicle. I recall call out in 2019 from Toyota that extends the warranty.
