Elon Musk says there is a chance of running into armed looters in fire-devastated areas. The Tesla CEO advises Cybertruck owners that the glass is not bulletproof, so they should duck down if they see anyone wielding a gun.
Elon Musk has sent out a warning to Cybertruck owners in Los Angeles amidst the ongoing fires. Musk says, “Cybertruck side panels are bulletproof, but the glass is not, so make sure to duck if you see anyone wielding a gun.”
This comes after Musk announced that Tesla had positioned several Cybertrucks around the city with Starlink Wi-Fi access and loaded them with food and drinks to help out devastated areas.
Musk writes…
“We are going to position Cybertrucks with Starlinks and free WiFi in a grid pattern in the areas that most need it in the greater LA/Malibu area.”
This has spurred other Cybertruck owners to join the effort; however, Elon Musk says to be careful.
Musk issued this warning after encouraging Cybertruck owners in California to join the rescue effort, saying, “Ride around in your truck in the devastated areas with a Starlink terminal on the roof and open Wi-Fi.”
However, a few hours after making this plea, Musk implored Cybertruck owners in the city to be careful, writing…
“Yes. Please be careful in some areas, as there is a non-zero risk of armed looters.
Cybertruck side panels are bulletproof to subsonic projectiles (handguns, shotguns & Tommy guns), but the glass is not, so make sure to duck if you see anyone wielding a gun.
This is not fiction.”
This is a surprising warning from Elon Musk; however, it’s still good to caution Cybertruck owners who might be under the false assumption that their trucks are entirely bulletproof against putting themselves in a precarious situation.
In addition to warning Cybertruck owners driving around the city, Elon Musk says Tesla will add security personnel to all the Cybertrucks officially sent out by the EV maker.
Musk writes…
“Also adding security personnel in the vehicles and snacks & beverages for passers-by”
In addition to his post, Musk included a picture of a Tesla Cybertruck bed loaded with fruits, snacks, and water on the way out to help affected individuals.
Elon Musk says Tesla has diverted customer-intended Cybertrucks to aid this effort and warns people expecting Cybertruck deliveries in California to expect delays.
The Tesla CEO wries…
“Apologies to those expecting Cybertruck deliveries in California over the next few days.
We need to use those trucks as mobile base stations to provide power to Starlink Internet terminals in areas of LA without connectivity.
A new truck will be delivered at the end of the week.”
A few hours ago, we reported that Tesla had removed all unsold Foundation Series Cybertrucks from its inventory page. Some of those trucks may have ended up in this effort.

You don’t have to do these things - and that’s exactly what makes it so meaningful. It shows your heart and your genuine care for humanity. Please keep going, keep helping, keep inspiring. The world needs more of this goodness, and we’re grateful to see you leading by example. 🍀🙏”
Another X user writes…
“Why do we even have FEMA? It is always Tesla and other private entities that have to come to the rescue. FEMA just gets in the way.”
