A video recently shared online shows about 50 Tesla Cybertrucks in Miami vandalized with spray-painted obscenities against Elon Musk. Tesla only leased the parking lot used to store the Cybertrucks three days ago.
A new video shared online shows more than 50 Cybertrucks parked at a Tesla fulfillment center, their pristine surface marred by a senseless act of vandalism. The video was shared on Instagram by @onlyindade and shows potentially hundreds of thousands worth of damage done to the Tesla Cybertrucks.
According to the person who shared the video, Tesla recently leased an abandoned parking lot and used the location to store vehicles before handing them over to customers. @onlyindade says Tesla only started storing vehicles at this location 3 days ago.
Throughout the video, @onlyindade does not reveal the exact location where this act took place; however, looking at his profile, one can see that the act of vandalism appears to have occurred somewhere in Miami.
As you can see in the video, the parking lot is filled with Tesla vehicles. In addition to the 50 or so Cybertrucks, you can see several Model 3s, Model Y’s, and Model S’s.
Interestingly, although Cybertruck production is only at an annual run rate of 75,000 vehicles, there are more Cybertrucks in this location than any other Tesla vehicle.
So, what is the extent of the damage? The perpetrators of this senseless act have used spray paint to deface almost all the Cybetrucks on the lot. Something to note here is that, at least from the limited video angle, it seems that all the attacks were concentrated on the Cybertrucks, with none of Tesla’s other vehicles on the lot affected.
The individuals behind this attack did not just spray paint the Cybertrucks, but they also specifically wrote obscenities against Elon Musk.
Most of the Cybertrucks in question had spray paint on the powered frunk, and they all read similar negative messages against the Tesla CEO. A few more Cybertrucks, in addition to the hood, also have spray paint all over the doors.
As of now, it’s not exactly clear what kind of paint the vandals used and how easy it would be to clean; however, the damage might be in the hundreds of thousands, perhaps in millions.
The Cybertruck, unlike every other vehicle on the road, does not sport an external coat of paint. This is good in normal situations since no paint means removing a flimsy yet expensive layer from the outermost part of the vehicle.
For example, you don’t have to worry about scuffs and bruises blemishing your Cybertruck when going off-roading.
However, in this instance where the Cybertruck is vandalized using spray paint, the Cybertruck’s naked stainless steel exterior might be an issue.
In any other vehicle, if you cannot remove the spray paint, the best thing to do is apply an additional coat of paint to restore the vehicle to its original state.
However, as mentioned above, the Cybertruck does not have paint, so applying paint over the obscenities will not be an option. In the worst-case scenario, it might be necessary to remove the body panels and replace them with new parts from the factory.
We hope this will not be necessary and that Tesla can simply remove the spray paint; however, if not, the damage could be substantial.
Having said that, there’s more than likely a chemical solvent in the market that can remove the spray paint off the Cybertruck without significantly damaging the vehicle's looks.
Something peculiar about the Cybertruck is that it appears to drum up more hate than any other automobile on the road. People who own a Cybertruck or have driven the truck for a few days report experiencing a level of harassment unlike anything they have experienced before.
I understand that some people might not like Cybertruck’s design. The vehicle is nothing like any vehicle we have seen on the road before; however, it boggles my mind that some people go above and beyond to hurl expletives at innocent people driving their vehicles.
Currently, the story is still unfolding, and we don’t have all the details surrounding this anti-Cybertruck act of vandalism. Please contact us if you have any information regarding the incident.
More importantly, if you have information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, make sure to contact Tesla and local police officers so that these individuals can be brought to justice.
So far, this is all the information we have regarding the Cybertruck vandalism act; however, we will be sure to keep you posted as the story unfolds.
