Dubai has just set the record for the most expensive Cybertruck in the world. This particular Cybertruck sports the Number “5” license plate worth $8.9 million. The combined Cybertruck/license plate value is worth over $9 million.
Since Tesla started Cybertruck deliveries at the end of last year, people have modified their brand-new trucks in various ways.
These modifications range from a Cybertruck with a striking red leather interior and trims, to a Cybertruck with tank threads, and even a Cybertruck transformed into the official SpaceX Mars Cybertruck, each showcasing the vehicle's versatility and the owners' creativity.
Some of the modifications we have seen in the Cybertruck have also been questionable; however, overall, most of the changes made by the vehicle's owners have helped increase its value beyond the standard version.
However, today, we have our first Cybertruck add-on, which has increased the value of the all-electric vehicle by several millions. Predictably, this Cybertruck comes from Dubai.

A little background here: In the United Arab Emirates, where Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and five other cities form the seven emirates, unique license plates are auctioned off for large sums of money.
The money raised by auctioning these license plates is used for various philanthropic projects, including feeding hungry children worldwide and improving the infrastructure in the cities where the license plates are issued.
Famously, last year, the “P7” license plate in Dubai broke the world record for the most expensive license plate in the world, fetching an eye-watering $15 million. Surprisingly, shortly after the P7 license plate was issued, the P7 plate surfaced in Dubai streets mated to a blacked-out Tesla Model X.
This makes the Tesla Model X with the P7 license plate the world's most expensive Tesla vehicle.
Currently, the P7 license plate is the most expensive license plate in the world, but although not as expensive as the P7 license plate/Model X combo, at a slightly less expensive price point, we have seen our first high-end license plate fitted to a Tesla Cybertruck in the UAE.
A few days ago, reports emerged showing that the Dubai police force has added a Cybertruck to its impressive collection of vehicles. At the time, it was exciting to see the Cybertruck being used for patrol duties in the city.
The Cybertruck was also directly deployed for the protection of the Crown Prince of Dubai, Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.
This is exciting on its own; however, a closer look at the Crown Prince’s Cybertruck reveals that the Cybertruck in Dubai might be even more impressive than originally thought.
The Dubai Police's Tesla Cybertruck is currently on display at the Dubai Mall, and visitors have noticed that it sports the Number “5” license plate.
It’s unclear how the number 5 license plate ended up on the Cybertruck; however, in 2016, Dubai-based Indian businessman Balwinder Sahni purchased the Dubai number 5 license plate at an auction for 33 million dirhams ($9 million).
This makes the Dubai police force’s Cybertruck the most expensive license plate vehicle combination for a Cybertruck at a cost of over $9 million.
Following the Tesla Model X Plaid with the P7 license plate in Dubai, the Cybertruck with the number “5” license plate is the second most expensive Tesla in the world.
Slapping a nine-million-dollar license plate on a $100,000 vehicle seems ridiculous to most people; however, it is good to remember that the money raised by selling these vanity license plates goes to feed the hungry and improve city infrastructure.
Another interesting point is that the Cybertruck in question, operated by the Dubai police force, does not have the license plate bolted onto the front or rear but is printed together with the wrap covering the vehicle.
In the grand scheme of things, the most expensive Tesla Cybertruck will not be central in advancing Tesla’s stated goal of “accelerating the advent of sustainable energy”; however, an electric vehicle taking center stage amongst the most expensive police vehicles in the world, that can cost several million of dollars, helps to elevate the status of EVs and will undoubtedly have a downstream effect, increasing EV acceptance among the general public.
On that note, although it appears that most people are unaware of this fact, in 2023, the Tesla Model Y officially became the best-selling vehicle in the world, selling 1.2 million units throughout the year.
The Model Y has been able to outsell highly popular internal combustion vehicles such as the Toyota Rav4 and Toyota Corolla worldwide.
In addition, two of the most expensive license plates in the world have been put on electric vehicles, which proves that EVs have gained widespread acceptance from the ultra-high-end to the budget front.
Overall, this is all the information we’ve got about the most expensive Tesla Cybertruck in the world. However, we’ll be sure to keep you posted as electric vehicles grow in popularity worldwide.
