Tesla Cybertruck Owners Say They’ve “No RegrAts” about Buying the Truck, Several Share They’re Even Looking to Get a Second Cybertruck

More than 75 Cybertruck owners say they have “no regrAts” about buying the vehicle. The few with complaints say their biggest issue is that they don’t have a second Cybertruck or that they haven’t spent more money to purchase the performance Cyberbeast.

Over the past few months, we’ve covered several nightmare Cybertruck ownership stories. Some Cybertrucks needed a high-voltage battery pack replacement even before their owner drove them a single mile.

We’ve also covered the story of the most unfortunate Cybertruck owner, who is currently on his second Cybertruck after his first truck broke down and left him stranded on the road on four different occasions.

Tesla gave him a replacement Cybertruck; however, the second Cybertruck also got bricked. To solve the issue, Elon Musk had to get personally involved, and Tesla engineers had to drill open his Cybertruck and break in through the window to get access inside the bricked truck.

There is also the story of the individual who needed to spend $13,404 and wait 3 months to repair his Cybertruck after a minor fender bender.

Multiple insurance providers in the US and Canada are denying Cybertuck owners coverage, and there is the individual who shared that he doesn’t understand why women keep laughing at him when he is out driving his Cybertuck.

Given all these issues and many more we have covered since the Cybertruck started deliveries, I was curious how Cybertruck owners are feeling about their purchase decisions.

Fortunately, a person trying to decide whether to go ahead and buy a Cybertruck (Sirozha from Atlanta, Georgia) raised this question on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, and he has gotten more than 75 responses from current Cybertruck owners.

Here is what Sirozha wrote…

“I’m about to place an order for a Cybertruck. I’ve owned two EVs and haven’t driven internal combustion vehicles for a few years now, so I understand what EV ownership entails, including long-trip travel.

The question is not about owning an EV. Rather, it’s about owning the Cybertruck. Does anyone have any regrets and would rather he hadn’t bought it? If so, could you list your reasons?

Thank you.”

Sirozha’s question is straightforward but hilarious; the first response amongst Cybertruck owners is the famous meme with the misspelled “No Ragrets” sign.

As I detailed above, we have chronicled many issues that Cybertruck owners have faced so far; as a result, the ironic “no ragrets” sentiment is to be expected.

Having said that, what was surprising is the sheer number of Cybertruck owners who sincerely claim they have no regrets about buying the truck.

The most prevalent sentiment among current Cybertruck owners is not only that they have “no regrets” but that they are extremely happy with their trucks.

For example, in response to Sirozha’s question, a current Cybertruck owner, Wayne, responds, “No regrets from this guy, although SHE (my wife) was the one who made the purchase decision. I was planning to wait for the non-foundation version, but I’m glad we didn’t.”

Another Cybertruck owner, Neil, responds, “Honestly, nope. I do not have a single regret after 6 months of driving it daily, pulling our camper, and doing random truck stuff. It's the best vehicle that I’ve ever owned.”

Greg from Indianapolis writes, “No regrets here. It's the best vehicle I've ever owned!” Jim from central Florida concurs, “None. It's been the best vehicle I’ve ever driven if you can get the Cyberbeast.”

These are some of the individuals who say they are happy with their purchase. However, there is an even more fascinating group of Cybertruck owners who say they are not just happy with their Cybertruck but are also thinking about getting a second one.

John from Washington writes, “I have no regrets. My wife and I are super delighted with the truck. I'm slightly tempted to get a second one, so we each have our own.” A Cyberbeast owner, “not_elon_,” concurs, writing, “I love that idea! There's no need for any other vehicle.”

Mark from Conway, Washington, writes, “If I had a good reason and could swing it, I would buy another one. Cybuano from Southern California concurs, “No single regret; in fact, I wish I could buy one more.”

Even some of the few individuals who have expressed regret about buying a Cybertruck say it’s because the Cybertruck is so good it has ruined other cars for them.

BeastiBoy from Connecticut writes, “The only thing that is unfortunate about owning a Cybertruck is that it makes all other vehicles feel ordinary and not appealing to me anymore. I just sold my Porsche 911 Turbo, and I have another 911 that I am not driving anymore. Just want to get in the Cyberbeast every day now.”

Jay from Atlanta writes, “No regrets at all, it's a fantastic vehicle. The Cybertruck is my first EV, so I had a bit of learning to do, but honestly, it's spoiled me for other cars. Steer-by-wire is a game changer; it makes driving my wife's Honda CR-V feel ridiculous.”

Even amongst the few Cybertruck owners who have expressed genuine feelings of regret, most of them are because they bought the dual-motor Cybertruck All-Wheel-Drive and did not opt for the more expensive Tri-motor Cybertruck Cyberbeast.

Brandon from Downers Grove, Illinois, writes, “I regret not getting the Cyberbeast instead of the All-Wheel-Drive. But that’s it.”

There are also a handful of individuals who regret spending $100,000 on a truck. For example, Michael from Wisconsin writes, “My only regret is that I could have done a whole lot of other things beneficial to both my future and my children’s future. But I’m always a cash buyer, so the withdrawal from my accounts is always one with thought vs. impulse.”

Overall, the sentiment among current Cybertruck owners is overwhelmingly positive. Having said that, we have also seen a curious behavior among Cybertruck owners; for example, one owner said that despite eight service visits, Tesla could not fix the issue with his truck; however, he added, "I still love my truck."

There is also the question of whether some sunken cost fallacy might be going on here. Having said that, please let me know what you think in the comments.
