Tesla Cybertruck Owner Says He’s “Sick of the Truck” After It Broke Down For the 3rd Time Requiring Yet Another Tow Service

A Cybertruck owner says he has had it with his truck after it failed again, leaving him stranded for the third time. Tesla fans, on the other hand, say he should stop complaining and that the issues are to be expected, given that it’s a new vehicle.

A Cybertruck owner from Southern California who goes by the username Cyberstank on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum says his truck has left him stranded on the road on three different occasions.

The first time his Cybertruck broke down and had to get towed was on his first drive as he was heading home after taking delivery.

A brand new vehicle that breaks down not too far from the delivery center is concerning; however, after this failure, Cyberstank says Tesla fixed the problem, and he has been driving his Cybertruck without too many issues.

That is at least until three weeks ago when the critical power conversion system error that forced his Cybertruck to be towed came back.

Cyberstank says he was on vacation when his Cybertruck failed, and the whole ordeal ruined his holiday. To make things worse, the Cybertruck owner says he was using the Cybertruck to carry his dirtbike, which complicated his drive home after the Cybertruck was towed.

Having your truck break down for the second time for the same issue is certainly frustrating; however, Cyberstank says things have gotten even worse.

The Cybertruck owner says he finally picked up the truck from the service center today. He drove it for a couple of hours, stopped to get something, and the truck experienced the same failure and had to be towed for the third time.

After the third breakdown, Cyberstank says, “I’m getting sick of this,” and decided to go online and share his abysmal Cybertruck ownership experience with fellow Cybertruck owners.

Here is what he wrote…

“I got my Foundation Series Cybertruck last March, and it broke down as soon as I left the service center. It had low voltage errors, critical steering, etc. I had it towed, and the power conversion system was replaced.

It was all good until three weeks ago, 5800 miles later, while on vacation, the same problem came back again: a low voltage issue, critical steering, inability to drive, etc. This totally ruined my vacation. I had my car towed to a service center 3.5 hours from my house, and I had to rent a truck because I had my dirt bike with me. It was such a nightmare.

The service center had the truck for 2 weeks. Did all the recall work (sail appliqué, wiper motor, etc.) replaced front and rear drive inverters. Said that is what the issue was. (The wiper is also now 2” to the right where it used to be hidden on the left when parked btw, but that’s a different story)

I Uber all the way from home to pick up the truck. I got it, started driving back home, made it 2 hours, stopped to pick something up, and returned to the car. The issue is back; there are the same errors again, towed again!

I’m getting sick of this; I’m looking into lemon law as I’m really losing confidence in taking this truck off-road anywhere remote; it’s ruined my trust.

Does anyone have similar problems? It seems weird that I’d need another power conversion system replacement. But no idea.

It’s the 3rd breakdown, and waiting for word from the service center. Exiting and re-entering multiple times didn’t fix it. Nor did restart.”

Below his post, Cyberstank shared a couple of pictures of his Cybertruck’s center touch screen with all the alerts that popped up.

Here are some of the alerts his Cybertruck displayed…

  • Rear axle steering disabled - Turning radius limited

Exiting and re-entering vehicle may restore feature

  • Unable to drive

PULL OVER SAFELY

  • Power reduced

Exiting and re-entering vehicle may restore operation

  • Low voltage electrical system issue detected

Vehicle power reduced - Schedule service

  • Walk-Away lock unavailable

Phone key disconnected - lock manually

  • Cabin climate control system requires service

Cabin heating / cooling limited or unavailable

Mind you, all these errors popped up as the Cybertruck owner was driving back from a service visit. Personally, I find this unacceptable, and Cyberstank also appears to have had enough trouble with the vehicle.

Looking at the comments, most Cybertruck owners in the forum sided with Cyberstank. They advised him to use California’s strong lemon law provisions to force Tesla to buy back the vehicle.

Having said that, there were some Tesla fans who shared that Cyberstank should not be complaining since he bought a new vehicle, and the failures are to be expected.

A Tesla fan from Georgia writes, “You’re an early adopter; what did you expect? 2 years in and 30k miles, our 2023 Model Y Performance has never been to the service center. Zero issues.”

I can't help but thinking back to the seventies when Chevy Vega looked neat but boy what a curse.
( Have you seen any Vega's around ? )
On a positive note , the Cyber metal would make excellent toasters.

My GMC Sierra has had 3 Major breakdowns. It is a 2021 wihich has been taking extra care of. It has had an idler to go out at 6000 miles, a water pump that destroyed itself at 33000 miles and now at 43,000 miles the cam had to be replaced. in total in 3 years I have been out of my truck for over 3 months. Now I am afraid to drive it.

Bought a few new vehicles and had a few problems in the first six months, but they were all minor, nothing that required towing!? And nothing that recurred even once!!!!
I would use the Lemon Law!!! My opinion Is there's s undiagnosed problem that's causing the parts they are replacing to fail! And you're probably going to have the same thing happen again?

I have bought two Lincoln cars from State Motors in Manchester NH.

My first purchase was a used Lincoln MKT. It had a few issues, but each time, I was given a free loaner that was newer then my car. I never, ever went without a car. Further, they offered to pickup my car and leave the loaner, before I even woke up!

So you can see why I bought my next car, a Lincoln Aviator, brand new. They pick up my car for any repairs or maintenance and leave me a brand new loaner, even during oil changes. So you Tesla owners losing use of your car during repairs or maintenance, BUY A LINCOLN FROM STATE MOTORS! I'm never without a car. Never have to drive it in fir repairs and if it takes multiple days to repair the car (happened once with the used MKT), I had full use of a newer car, delivered to me. Further, all repairs were covered under warranty. Drop Tesla, buy a Lincoln, but, make sure it's a reputable Lincoln dealer.

Why do people put up with this complete lack of quality. I bought one of the cheapest cars made, a 2010 Nissan Versa, new, in 14 years it never let me stranded, never was towed for service in 130k miles. That was 15k car. I now drive a my second Hyndai Elantra. The first was a 2006, that had 1 warranty repair in 7 years we owned it. Never towed. I have a 2003 elantra hybrid now, never had an issue, the maintenance is free and I get 550 miles of range and it takes 2 minutes to fill the tank...and I have buttons and stalks and real leather seats.

I think anyone who buys an electric car should realize that it's a novelty and not a mainstream transportation vehicle. If you want dependable transportation and don't want to plan trips around charging stations and waiting to charge up the batteries then get a gasoline vehicle. More reliable cost less to fix and unlimited range
