Latest Tesla Software Update Bricks Several Cybertrucks; Elon Musk, Unaware of the Issue Says, The FSD 13.2.2 Update is Tesla’s Christmas Gift to the World

So far, at least 4 Cybertruck owners have confirmed that their trucks have died after installing the latest FSD 13.2.2 software update. However, unaware of the problems, Elon Musk calls the software update Tesla’s Christmas gift to the world.

Several Cybertruck owners are reporting that their trucks have become completely unresponsive after installing the latest software update—version 2024.45.25.5 (FSD 13.2.2).

The FSD 13.2.2 update is Tesla’s latest full self-driving software and has just started rolling out to Cybertruck owners over the last few days.

A Cybertruck owner from Camillus, New York, Tom, was the first person to report issues after installing the FSD 13.2.2 update.

Tom shared his warning on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum under the title “Update 2024.45.25.5 Bricked my truck.”

Here is what he wrote…

As the title says, I installed 2024.45.25.5 and the truck went unresponsive. So, just be aware of this when you press the update button. They are sending a tow truck to take my Cybertruck to the local service center.”

Below his post, Tom included a screenshot from his Tesla app showing the service note Tesla technicians added after working to fix his truck.

The note from the Tesla technician reads…

Technician Note

Inspection found the vehicle unresponsive. Reviewed logs and firmware. Found firmware hammered for an unknown reason midway through installation. Partial update disabled vehicle. Supported MV system onsite and redeployed the latest firmware update. Verified successful. Verified operation.”

Together with the screenshot, Tom writes, “I guess the official term is hammered. The service center fixed it in about an hour.”

A complete fix in just an hour isn’t too bad; however, looking at the comments section, several Cybertruck owners came forward saying their trucks have also died after installing the FSD 13.2.2 software update.

One of the individuals to share his plight is Kristoffer, a Cybertruck owner from Kent, Washington. In our previous report, we shared the story of Kristoffer’s bricked Cybertruck. Kristoffer’s truck ended up bricked after installing the latest software update overnight.

At that time, we did not focus too much on the fact that the truck was bricked during a software update. What was more interesting about Kristoffer’s bricked Cybertruck was the fact that the truck became completely unresponsive while plugged into a wall-mounted charger.

Since the charger cable couldn’t be unplugged from the vehicle and the charger box was mounted to the wall, Tesla technicians were at a loss on how to extricate Kristoffer’s truck to be able to tow it to the service center.

In response to the original post, Kristoffer writes…

“I am also in the same boat as you. I updated, and it bricked Sunday morning. Waiting for the mobile tech tomorrow to get it powered so that I can unplug it from my wall charger. They couldn’t tow it because the tow truck driver couldn’t get the 48v powered to unplug the truck.”

Together with his response, Kristoffer shared several pictures of his bricked white Cybertruck loaded onto a tow truck. Since the charger couldn’t be unplugged, the Cybertruck owner says he had to disassemble the charger from the electric circuit and ship the wall charger together with the vehicle.

Here is what Kristoffer wrote…

“On my other post, I ended up disconnecting my wall charger from the wall. So, my wall charger is taped to the tonneau and attached to the truck. It was delivered to the service center, and I won’t hear back until Thursday. Merry Christmas.”

Two bricked Cybertrucks after installing the same software update is interesting; however, a third Cybertruck owner, who goes by the username NotMyTruck came forward to share that his brand new Cybertruck also died after installing this update.

Here is what he wrote…

“How long has it been since the update started? My first update after picking up the truck. It took almost 2 hours (on WiFi) from start to finish. The truck was unresponsive.”

At this point, if you are thinking this is a coincidence, a fourth Cybertruck owner, Sam from Texas, also shares that his truck was bricked after installing the FSD 13.2.2 update.

Sam writes…

“Add another to the list... Updated yesterday... Today bricked. They can't get it to let go of the 48v either, so now mobile service is allegedly going to come to try and figure it out. Something drained the low voltage battery flat.”

Sam adds that, similar to Kristoffer’s case, his truck died with the charger plugged in and that Tesla technicians are having a hard time towing the vehicle.

The frustrated Cybertruck owner adds…

“Interesting, they got my Cybertruck jumped, but it would not release the charger cable or tailgate. It would not power up systems on the truck to do much of anything, and then when we tried to jump it with a running car, it was dead completely. Now the frunk is closed, and the hot lead won't open that either! Mobile service hopefully will come here on the 26th.”

Looking at the comments, several Cybertruck owners are baffled by the extent of the issue, and Kristoffer asks why this story isn’t making headlines.

However, Elon Musk, blissfully unaware of the issue, is touting the FSD 13.2.2 update and, in response to a Tesla fan on X, agreed that this software update is Tesla’s Christmas gift to the world.

A Cybertruck owner on X Bill Lee wrote, “flawless FSD v13.2.2 drive home tonight - FSD is Tesla’s Xmas gift to the world. Merry Christmas, everyone!”

In response, Musk agreed simply writing, “Merry Christmas.”

In my opinion, this exchange is emblematic of Elon Musk’s broken feedback loop, where he has surrounded himself with sycophants and no longer gets any negative feedback.
