Tesla has raised Plaid Model S price by $10,000 hours ahead of the delivery event. This makes earlier rumors suggesting 350KW V4 supercharging and 4680 cells being announced at the delivery event more likely.
In less than 24 hours Tesla will be holding a Plaid Model S delivery event at the company’s Fremont California plant. And at the event reservation holders will take the first delivery of the quickest production car in the world.
Elon Musk for his part seems excited about the vehicle tweeting “0 to 60mph in under 2 secs. Quickest production car ever made of any kind. Has to be felt to be believed.”
The CEO has also changed his profile picture to the Plaid pattern the Model S is expected to display on the center screen during launch.

And as excitement for the vehicle is reaching fever pitch and the delivery event only hours away, Tesla has decided to raise the price by a whopping $10,000.
The Plaid Model S now starts at $129,990 up from an earlier $119,990. And this price is before any exterior paint, interior color, and autopilot options.
As usual, Tesla hasn’t said anything about the price increase and simply made the change with an update to the company’s online configurator.
Nevertheless, it is interesting Tesla decided to make the price change so close to the event. This likely means Tesla is anticipating demand for the vehicle will skyrocket after the delivery event live-stream.
In a previous article, I have discussed rumors suggesting the refreshed Model S will come with 350KW V4 supercharging, V11 UI, and possibly will be powered by Tesla’s next-generation 4680 battery cells.

We have to wait few hours before we can confirm the rumors but Telsa increasing the price this close to the event surely suggests there is something big coming at the event.
This is all good and well but the price increase has undoubtedly irked some Tesla customers with a Plaid Plus Model S reservation.
Recently, Tesla decided to cancel the Plaid Plus Model S which was expected to be the bigger brother to the Plaid Model S. According to Elon Musk the latter has gotten so good the Plaid Plus is no longer needed.

However, this means customers who reserved the Plaid Plus early on and now have to switch their reservation to the Plaid Model S will have to pay an extra $10,000.
If Tesla hadn’t introduced and canceled the Plaid Plus Model S, these customers would’ve likely gotten a Plaid Model S reservation and locked in the $119,990 price tag.
Tesla likely needs to let Plaid Plus reservation holders switch their orders to the Plaid Model S with the original price. We will keep you posted if Tesla or Elon Musk gives us more information about this issue.
Model S Plaid delivery event at the Fremont factory will be streamed live on June 10, 7 pm Pacific.
So what do you think? Are you excited about the Plaid Model S delivery event? Do you think Tesla increasing the price so close to the event suggests the rumored features will be announced at the live stream? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments below.
