Tesla has released a video showing their giant megafactory - it's capable of producing 10,000 Megapacks per year.
Tesla's Megafactory
Tesla's Megafactory in Lathrop, California has gotten a lot of attention lately, due to the fact that it is producing Megapacks, which Tesla sells for around $2 million per unit. This factory has an annual production capacity of 10,000 Megapacks per year. This Tesla battery storage product is a sleeping giant getting ready to awaken and boost Tesla.
In fact, Tesla is hiring for jobs in this Megafactory to help transition the world to sustainable Energy and to help achieve a giga scale for grid power and stability. Each Megapack is capable of providing 40 GWh of clean Energy storage.
Tesla has moved to using LFP batteries in its Megafactory, which means Megapacks will be cheaper for Tesla to produce. With CATL releasing patents on these types of batteries, Tesla will most likely be producing these in-house. There is also the LFP cell manufacturer, American Battery Factory, which is building a factory in Tucson, AZ, and Tesla will most likely get batteries from there as well.
Tesla's Megapack, built at its Megafactory in Lathrop, California, may be more important than even its vehicles and reach a size of volume and revenue that surpasses even the auto business, according to Elon Musk. Grid stability and Energy are two very important needs of utility companies and there is plenty of demand, out for almost 2 years, of orders for Tesla's Megapack.

Tesla's Megapack
In the video, Tesla shares about its production of the Megapack XL. Its primary goal is to replace fossil fuels for large scale energy storage. This is Tesla's biggest battery yet, and it is integrated with electronics and thermal management systems.
It has a simple manufacturing process with enables simple integration and improved scalability. The great thing about this is that Tesla will most likely build more Megafactories and be able to replicate its Megapack building process in other locations.
Tesla's Megapack and the software systems used to run it use the same core thermal components as Tesla vehicles. This means the Megapack can operate in some of the harshest conditions, including very cold climates.
Tesla's Lathrop, California factory can produce 1 Megapack every 68 minutes, according to Tesla, which means 10,000 Megapacks per year and 40 GWh of energy storage for each. That's equal to fifty, 200 Mw of fossil fuel plants.
Look for Megapack to save utility companies a ton of money as they will be able to store energy in these during off-peak hours and then sell that energy during peak hours for a profit.
