More and more SUVs are focusing on off-roading but the 2024 Jeep Wrangler still drove off with the award.
Newsweek recently released its reviews for the best vehicles in many categories and the 2024 Jeep Wrangler has plenty of reasons to celebrate. The Newsweek team picked the 2024 Jeep Wrangler as the Top Pick for enthusiasts and Top Pick for Outdoor Adventurers. The Top Pick designations apply to the entire 2024 Jeep Wrangler lineup, including the V-8-powered Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and America’s best-selling plug-in hybrid, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe.
In its recent review of the refreshed 2024 Jeep Wrangler, Newsweek writes, “The 2024 Jeep Wrangler is one of those purpose-built vehicles. It's one of the best in the world when the road gets rocky, and now, thanks to updates, completely acceptable on roads that aren't.
The 2024 model is a gentle refresh with an available full-float Dana rear axle (included on the Wrangler Rubicon X tested here), new factory Warn winch and an increased towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.”
Newsweek goes on to say that “It's also better at everything having to do with off-roading. With four-wheel drive system locked and the sway bar open it can climb up any boulder, hill or tree stump, even with a complete amateur behind the wheel.” High praise, indeed!
Jeep Upgraded to Stay Ahead of the Pack
As I wrote previously in July, Jeep added more technology and key trail features to its popular 2024 Jeep Wrangler to try and stay ahead of the pack. Wranglers now come with dozens of trail guides loaded into the infotainment system. Trails Offroad delivers comprehensive off-road trail guides for the 62 Jeep Badge of Honor trails. It will be pre-loaded right into the Uconnect 5 system. Buyers can also upgrade with a subscription that unlocks 3,000-plus Trails Offroad trail guides.
Another feature new for 2024, buyers can order a Warn winch straight from the factory. That means the cost can be built into the overall loan, you don’t have to buy it outright later and have it added. The 2024 Wrangler Rubicon will also have increased 5,000-pound best-in-class tow capability.
Trying to Rebound from Soft Sales Numbers
It was a slow first half for Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company in North America. Jeep, in particular, is trying to improve its sales based on outdoor performance. The Jeep Wrangler builds on its legendary history with an unmatched combination of off-road capability, advanced powertrains, superior on- and off-road dynamics and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology features. For the 2024 model year, the Jeep brand introduced the first full-float Dana rear axle and an available 100:1 crawl ratio.
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler now sports a new interior. Buyers can upgrade to 12-way power adjustable front seats. It now features a standard 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen radio and standard side curtain air bags in the first and second rows.
It is easy to see why Newsweek writers consider the 2024 Jeep Wrangler tops for Enthusiasts and Outdoor Adventurers.
