When you think about it, remote setup does makes sense. That's why Ford's Mustang Mach-E will allow owners to set up their vehicles before they even take delivery. The setup strings will be stored in the cloud and saved to the Mach-E via Sync 4.
If you use a smartphone, the chances are good that you have set up apps meant to automate various functions. For instance, let's say you need to do some shopping and you don't have time to get to the market. Instead of waiting for half-a-week to get, there are get everything you might need from the market, and you could get it delivered, all from the convenience of your smartphone.
Mustang Mach-E Examples
Or, let's say you need to set up a ride to a necessary appointment, and you need to Uber back and forth, and you don't have the Uber app. First, you download the app to your smartphone, depending on the type – Android or Apple – and then you set things up for the trip and look for an Uber ride. Some Uber operator will pick up your ride request, and when the time comes, you are on your way.
Ford's all-electric Mustang Mach-E has a most intriguing way of getting your vehicle ready for delivery by allowing you to personalize remote vehicle setup via your smartphone before the vehicle arrives. My colleague Jimmy Dinsmore discusses some of the options available to Mustang Mach-e drivers.

With Remote Vehicle Setup via the FordPass app or the Owner Web, you can easily and quickly create a driver profile, establish favorite destinations, preset climate control preferences, and even choose preferred driving experience. This is only the beginning. Ford plans to roll out future Mustang Mach-E capabilities via over-the-air updates, including favorite radio presets.
Not only will owners be able to set up their favorite destinations, but they will also be able to find nearby charging stations. Also, you can tweak cabin temperature settings and input commute schedules right from the comfort of your favorite chair. You can even do this before the vehicle arrives.
Mustang Mach-E Lets You Set Profiles
And not only can you create a profile, set navigation destination, set various preferences, and even set other preferences. The configurations are stored in the cloud. When the stored preferences are needed, their Mustang Mach-Es receive them via their smartphones.
Ford's chief futurist, Sheryl Connolly, said, "' One-size fits all' fits no one. Consumers want personalized products, services, and experiences. Mustang Mach-E's Remote Vehicle Setup lets them customize their profile before they ever slide into the driver's seat, meaning every Mach-E can be unique."
Saving time in the setup process means customers can get to driving as soon as they take delivery of their vehicles. When customers collect their new Mustang Mach-E from their Ford dealer, they send these personal settings to their vehicles from their smartphones. After sending their preferences to the vehicles, users can manage the features configured in Remote Vehicle Setup via Ford Pass or their vehicle.
Meanwhile, as vehicle connectivity options continue to expand, so does the ability to have custom settings specific to driver preferences.
"Our customers want to personalize their vehicles to meet their busy lives," said Erika Raia, Ford global EV digital experience manager, recently. "In our research, we found that 94 percent of customers ranked navigation and finding charging locations as the top features that they would want to set up remotely. They want their new vehicle to be 'theirs' as soon as possible, and this app lets them preset features. It educates themselves about their Mustang Mach-E weeks before delivery – meaning less time adjusting settings and more time enjoying their new vehicle."
Mustang Mach-E Relies On Sync 4A
Remote Vehicle Setup sends these settings to SYNC 4A, which uses machine learning to learn drivers' preferences quickly. It gets even better over time thanks to advanced over-the-air updates – including a planned update that allows for personalization of radio presets before delivery.
These advanced connectivity features, on top of the ability to find convenient charging stations along a route using the FordPass App, gives customers confidence that their Mustang Mach-E ownership experience will be hassle-free.
The all-electric Mustang starts hitting the streets in the U.S. near the end of the year.
