Since introducing the new Pentastar V6 in the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the company has slowly spread the powerful yet efficient V6 throughout nearly their entire brand lineup and it looks like the Jeep Wrangler may soon be the next vehicle to pack Pentastar power.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of 2011 Kia Sorrento and 2010 Hyundai Santé Fe sport utility vehicles over a possible transmission problem that could lead to total transmission failure and loss of motive power.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of select Kia Spectra models over concerns of excessive corrosion (rust) on the metal straps that secure the fuel tank in place as, when the corrosion is severe enough, the straps could fail and the fuel tank could literally fall out of the vehicle.

Despite an April sales report that showed an increase of 16 percent versus a year ago and year-to-date sales up 16 percent, investors did not pump Ford stock, even in after-hours trading. Pre-market trading is no different.

Honda has issued a new recall of 833,000 vehicles to address an airbag issue – all of which have had their airbag system replaced due to problems or collision repairs - to address the same issues that accounted for the airbag recalls from 2008-2010.

The 2011 Chevrolet Volt comfortably outsold the 2011 Nissan Leaf in the US through the first three months of the 2011 calendar year but even with April bringing about all sorts of production stoppages for Nissan, the all-electric Leaf beat out the extended range Volt sedan in April 2011 sales.

Many people are looking at the constantly rising price of gas and thinking perhaps they could live with an electric car after all. Chevrolet reports nine out of 10 of their recent customers have never even been into a Chevy dealer before and are drawn in to look at or test-drive the new Volt. Others want a fully electric vehicle but are waiting for what’s considered a necessary recharging network.

Ford Racing began offering the new 5.0L V8 engine as a crate motor last year but the aftermarket performance division of Ford Motor Company has announced that they are now offering the high performance Boss 302 variant of the 5.0L V8 – packing 444 horsepower made with the help of improved engine components compared to the standard Ford 5.0L V8.

Saab resumed production at their Trollhattan facility yesterday after an April plagued with downtime due to the inability to pay suppliers and today, Spyker announced that Chinese automaker Hawtai Motor Group had invested 150 million Euros (roughly $222 million USD) – allowing Saab to pay its suppliers and send workers back into the production facilities.

Ford has announced production schedule changes at their Windsor engine facility but unlike most other recent production stoppages, this one doesn’t have anything to do with the Japanese earthquake on March 11th and instead – the Canadian engine plant downtime is due to Ford’s inability to get enough tires to build vehicles with the engines built in Windsor.

It may seem odd, but the first 2013 Chevrolet Malibu will be built in Bupyeong, Korea. It's leading an international roll-out of the mid-size sedan that will see it built in GM's Korean facility beginning this fall, followed by Jingjiao, China, in late 2011, and Fairfax, Kansas, and Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan, early next year.
