My 2013 Highlander is doing the same thing. Called corporate, took to dealer (who confirmed issue in writing) and nothing has happened. Dealer said out of there hands until Toyota ok’s remedy. Not holding my breath! Won’t buy another Toyota knowing they are treating (high side of car market) paying customers like this.
