Toyota has announced a new customer support plan for vehicles with peeling white and blizzard pearl paint. The paint can degrade very rapidly. Some vehicles see the paint begin to come off in as little as one year. The problem affects nearly 2 million vehicles. The program will support you whether you are the original owner or purchased the vehicle used.

Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.

Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.

Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

If you have a Toyota with Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint that seems defective please tell us about it in the comments below. Detail your contact with Toyota and how the issue is being handled. Your experience may help a fellow owner.

My 2011 Avalon paint started chipping shortly after I bought it from the original owner. It wasnt much so I shrugged it off. Then last summer the paint started bubbling up and seriously peeling. There isn't a dealer in my town so I will have to go 20 to 40 miles away.

I have a 2008 RAV-4 Blizzard Pearl. The paint is peeling in many areas, blows off in the wind when driving. I love the car otherwise. Toyota sent a letter in the fall but so far, I've heard nothing more.

I have a 2014 blizzard pearl Toyota Corolla and have been having these issues too, with peeling paint in different areas of my vehicle. Any reason as to why I haven’t received a letter?

I have a 2012 Camry HV and the rear area of the car surrounding the license plate is rusting. Does that fall under this?

I owned a 2004 Sienna Pearl White, the paint is cracking terribly, I received a recall notice, but I lost it, can I still go to the nearby Toyota Dealer to service my paint?

I too have gotten the run around on this problem. Wanted to trade mine in for a hybrid but of course no one wants it, can’t sell it outright. Time to hit social media. Maybe even talk to a lawyer about a class action lawsuit. Of course that may cost less than fixing millions of cars.

My 2013 Highlander is doing the same thing. Called corporate, took to dealer (who confirmed issue in writing) and nothing has happened. Dealer said out of there hands until Toyota ok’s remedy. Not holding my breath! Won’t buy another Toyota knowing they are treating (high side of car market) paying customers like this.

I have a 2011 Toyota Highlander and they're telling me the same thing it's not included in the program it's not fair seems like there's something we can do about that I might have to get my lawyer involved this is discrimination anyway you look at it

I have a 2015 pearl white and a big piece of paint came off the roof near the window. I will report to dealer but if they are not including highlanders and other vehicles sounds like a class action lawsuit to remedy is in order

Own a 2009 Highlander pear white peeling around the windshield and hood. Contacted Toyota they said the Highlander is not in the recall.. How convenient of them to exclude the higher end of models and one of there best selling. We will not buy another Toyota if this problem is not fixed and this is our 2nd Highlander.

Any update? This is my new problem I'm losing my mind today. 3 auto body shops all said it's totally a paint issue. I have the #070 blizzard white. I have an appointment with the dealership service on Monday. I'm basically going to get nothing... correct?

2013 Blizzard pearl Highlander has paint peeling 50 percent of top of roof , front windshield and now bubble of paint flaked away on side of mint condition highlander. Went to dealership for estimate and after waiting in waiting room for an estimate that will take hours she said Toyota repair lady. She comes back and says I’m sorry they approved the Highlanders but a Toyota hasn’t added them yet. Last time I will purchase a Toyota product.

I called regarding my pearl 2015 Highlander limited. The top is peeling. I called the Toyota Recall number and they said it was not on the list. You would think when you almost pay $50k for an SUV they would stand behind their product

I am the owner of a 2014 Toyota Corolla (eco). Blizzard pearl. There are several spots on my vehicle in which the paint is peeling. I have not contacted anyone in regards to this problem. The letter recieved stated no action is needed, I would be notified when my car was able to be repaired.

I got tired of waiting for them to contact me, so I called my local dealer ship and asked the plan of action. They informed me to get an estimate from a body shop and take to the dealership. Today I did that. They took pics(definitely recall covered) and said will send to corporate once their office opens back up, hopefully next week. Hoping it won't be much longer as it is ugly and embarrassing.

Hi Kim-
I have a 2011 Toyota 4Runner with 66k miles and have numerous paint chips and the roof is really bad. I also received the letter asking me to wait for a second letter that never came. Did they say why they would want an estimate from an outside body shop? Does Toyota not have their own paint/body shop? Never thought of this. What a huge disappointment.

Hi Karen. My local dealership does not have a paint/repair shop. I went to a body shop that Toyota uses on a regular basis and got an estimate, but you can go to any body shop you choose

I have a 2015 Toyota RAV 4 with peeling blizzard pearl paint. I contacted my local Toyota dealer in Oxford, MS soon after I received the recall notice. I have heard anything from them other to say that they will let me know when Toyota decides how to handle this.

We are in Hattiesburg, MS- took our RAV4 to local Dealership and they told us that since they didn't have a body shop they couldn't do anything. A year before we got the letter from Corporate we took our vehicle to the dealership and they told us then that they saw the "peeling paint" issue with the blizzard pearl paint but that at that time there was nothing they could do about it. They referred us to a local body shop for an estimate. After getting the estimate we decided we may wait a little while and see if the recall would come about. We called corporate to see if there were any local body shops we could use and they told us no...it had to be a dealership and referred us to Laurel. We called them ...they don't have a body shop. So evidently corporate does not know which of their dealerships have Body Shops. The closest we have found is Mobile, Alabama. My husband was so frustrated with the run around (because he talked to corporate several times...they kept arguing that Laurel had a body shop) we just put it on the back burner for the last few months. I am READY to get this taken care of now!
