I leased a brand new 2019
I leased a brand new 2019 Hyundai Ioniq, a month after they came out. In the first year, a long crack appeared on my windshield while it was parked in my driveway. There was no sign it was hit with a rock or pebble or anything. It appeared to be coming up from the bottom and runs diagonally across, nearly reaching the top.
A month ago, in the same car, I closed the hatchback and the back windshield completely shattered for no reason. There was nothing in the back of my car to make contact with it when I closed it. I was told they would not cover it because they could see no evidence of manufacturer defect. Huh? It’s shattered, there’s nothing left of it, what kind of evidence were they looking for? It’s a shame because I really liked this car and (I thought) I liked the dealership too. I even bought the extra warranty package on the glass because it was told the glass has all these sensors and things that would make it very expensive to repair, should it get cracked or something. But still, they won’t cover it. Very disappointed.
