If you are looking for a feature-rich compact SUV that isn't too harsh on your bank account, you might want to consider the 2022 Hyundai Tucson model. The Tucson SEL, which is the second-highest model in Tucson's trim line, It offers great value with its plethora of premium features at a reasonable price. But we test-drove the 2022 Tucson Limited AWD, which is the third-highest model in Tucson's trim line.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson comes in three main trim levels, that offer the driver and passengers features like a birds-eye view camera, a panoramic sunroof, and a six-speaker surround sound system. Here are the three trim levels of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson and their respective prices.

- 2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL Price – $26,500 MSRP.
- 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited Price – $34,700 MSRP .
Hyundai has been demonstrating for years how they already measure up to companies that have been dominating for decades and what they are trying to do now is make a difference from the rest.
The Exterior of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson
This compact SUV is based on Hyundai's Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy and incorporates a 'parametric' design also seen in the 2022 Santa Cruz, which offers a kinetic surface, something of a jewel. . This is something that according to Hyundai gives it a personal, distinctive identity in a segment that today offers much of the same.
What Hyundai did with the 2022 Tucson was take an aesthetic risk with a simple and straightforward purpose. Be different, stand out from that horde of SUVs that want to look sporty, but elegant, but adventurous, but youthful and so on. Hyundai got something that seems straight out of science fiction. It simply took a concept car, skipped the form dilution and made it onto the production line.
The front is decorated with a huge grille that integrates triangular daytime running lighting at the ends , separated from it by the main LED headlights in a lower area. The sides full of polygons and even the contrasting 19 "wheels give it a lot of personality.
The rear part has a large LED light strip as is customary in our days. It's disruptive, but may not convince some people, as I saw in other reviews of the 2022 Tucson. I like it.
The new generation Hyundai Tucson also has a new platform and with it dimensions. There are short versions and long versions. The short version that receives all of Europe, Colombia and Mexico, measures 4.5 meters long. The long version is destined for the United States and other markets. It reaches up to 4.63 meters in length.
The Interior
On the outside the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is extravagant, but on the inside it is rather minimalist, yet refined.
Inside the 2022 Hyundai Tucson contrasts with what you see on the outside and not in a bad way. You would normally expect that the interior of the 2022 Tucson was also super extravagant. Yet, the reality is that in this case Hyundai engineers went the route of minimalism and elegance.
In terms of materials there is an adequate level, nothing super elegant, but not neglected either, although the perception of quality can go up much more when you have a two-tone interior. With this SUV there is an option to go completely black, gray with black or black with blue.
The perception of quality is very good , all the materials are adequate. None of them shows low quality. There are no squeaks or something that really shows that they cut the budget.
We have a clear and easy to read 10.25 " digital instrument cluster , 10.25" touch screen compatible with CarPlay and Android auto, Krell audio system with subwoofer , leather upholstery, power adjustable front seats, triple zone A / C, gear selector and push-button parking brake, wireless smartphone charger and ambient lighting.
Good Safety
So far everything sounds good right? The really good thing that deserves applause for Hyundai is the safety team. All versions have 7 airbags, however, the seventh is not the classic knee bag, but a central airbag for the front occupants that comes out of the inner part of the seats and basically wraps the front occupants so that they don't hit each other, emphasizing head protection.
They also have ABS brakes, electronic stability control, hill climb assistant and even trailer stability assistant. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson's Limited AWD trim also includes autonomous emergency brake with evasion assistant, reverse camera with cross traffic alert and autonomous brake, lane maintenance, blind spot alert, adaptive cruise control and even rear seat occupant forgetting alert. Very complete. Anyway, this SUV offers a high level of security.
Its trunk also benefited from the platform change and gets more room.
The Power
The new Tucson offers two 2.5-liter Smartstream gasoline engines, one direct injection and the other multiple injection. It also offers 1.6-liter direct injection, turbocharged and plug-in hybrid and hybrid powertrains.
The new 2.5-liter Smartstream engine, with high-efficiency combustion, cooled EGR and an ITMS cooling system, delivers 187 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 178 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. This engine works with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of EPA-estimated fuel economy, combined city-highway it offers 29 miles per gallon of gasoline with front-wheel drive and 26 miles per gallon with all-wheel drive.
The 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine for the hybrid powertrain delivers 180 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, with an estimated total of 226 horsepower combined. Additionally, this hybrid powertrain offers 258 pound-feet of torque, combined with a 44.2 kW electric motor and a 1.49 kWh battery.
The Driving
The driving of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson on the highway is peaceful, comfortable and quiet experience.
The cabin on the road is very quiet and the engine noise is hardly noticeable, except when one demands it suddenly, but nothing special. As you get on the road the engine seems to be a little bit lazy once you hit the gas pedal. But once it gets speed, it's a smooth drive. For this reason the Sport mode is configured for conditions such as acceleration in a straight line, corners with medium and high speed, and starts on a hill. The difference between Normal and Sport is noticeable.
The 2022 Tucson does very well on the road, is tame and responds very well.
One thing I have to add is that Hyundai's all-wheel drive HTRAC system was specially configured for all-terrain hybrid and plug-in hybrid models with the goal of maximizing forward-traction capability on a wide variety of surfaces. In addition, both hybrid versions of the Tucson also use a single transmission-mounted electrical device (TMED), which helps manage the increased performance required for hybrid SUV applications.
The new 2022 Hyundai Tucson is a vehicle that ranks at the top of its segment, featuring compact SUVs like the Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V .
This is an option of great value and very difficult to ignore when the customer must determine the purchase of an SUV of this type.
It is very complete in every way and without a doubt one of the best SUVs both for the family, as well as and especially, for those who have an active lifestyle, who like adventure, without sacrificing the urban lifestyle.
