My 2019 Outback started having problems with the StarLink immediately. The problems became more and more severe and I reported it every time I took it in for service. Every time, they said they couldn't reproduce the problem. I eventually started taking my OB to a dealer closer to me for service and reported it there as well with the same response. My OB has 33,600 miles on it and although it's out of warranty due to time.

After reading about others having the same problem, I took it in recently in hopes that they might replace the head unit. I was told the head unit would cost about $1450 installed, not including tax! Furthermore, they wouldn't replace it as a "known problem" and said I should call Subaru of America.

I called Subaru of America and was asked about the dealer that told me to call them. He needed to call the dealer to verify the problem I was reporting, and he would call me back. He called back and said SOA would do nothing for me. I asked him to put that in writing and he said he could send me a form letter stating that my car was out of warranty. He also said he saw that I had reported it every time I had the car serviced. He ask me why I hadn't called SOA when it was still in warranty?! Why should I need to call SOA if warranty problems should have been handled by a dealer?!

I don't know how to join a class action lawsuit or if I should file lawsuits on my own against the dealers, mechanics, and SOA individually.

This is the last Subaru I will ever own.
